Add custom services to your Cookie Management

With version 6.3.30 and 6.4.5, we are going to release an interesting feature for all tracking experts and marketeers for our Google Tag Manager Plugin for Shopware 6.

In some cases, it is necessary from a data protection perspective to obtain consent from the user for specific services. For example, you may want to obtain permission to store data for certain services such as Facebook, TikTok, etc. We have now made it possible to create your own custom services in Shopware Admin, which can then be selected by the user in Shopware Consent Manager and push an event in DataLayer accordingly. With the help of this event, you can then work in Tag Manager (for example by setting up specific triggers for services like Facebook) and enable user data to be processed in a way that complies with data protection regulations.

Important: in order to use this feature, you’ll need to use the SW Consent Manager. Thirdparty services (e.g. Cookiebot, UserCentrics) are not supported.

How to create a new service

  1. Navigate to the settings in Shopware Admin and find the item ‘GTM Custom Services’ in the ‘Extensions’ category.
  2. Create a new service (click on the ‘Add service’ button at the top right).
  3. Assign a ‘Service name’. This will be displayed in the Consent Manager and should make it clear to the user for what purpose consent is being given.
  4. In the ‘GTM event name’ field, you can assign a technical name for the event, which will then be output in the DataLayer. For example: cookieConsentGivenMyservice.
  5. All cookie categories are displayed under the ‘Service category’ item. Your new service can be classified here.
  6. Save your new service

Your new service should now be available in your shop’s Shopware Consent Manager.
